Reversible wholcloth quilt with elaborate hand quilting. One side is rose pink and the other black with quilting done in black thread. It is padded but the type of padding is unknown,

History: 

This is 1 of 2 quilts brought to Australia from England by Julie Atkinson's grand parents when they went back for a trip in 1956. " I don't think they were new at that time. They were possibly made by a group of ladies who met of an evening to do the quilting. I met the last of my great aunts in South Shields in 1967, Meg Thwaites. She would have been in her 80s then."

Wholecloth quilt of fine cream homespun embroidered with stranded cotton in 2 shades, brown and buff, with gold highlights. It is a cross stitch floral pattern which was stamped on the homespun. The self coloured quilting is mostly in straight lines with a fern design border. The quilt has a bound edge.

Wholecloth quilt with both sides in a cotton floral material with a dusty pink background. All over hand quilting is in loose parallel lines.
Stavroula re-covered this quilt with this material about 20 to 25 years ago. Originally the quilt had a yellow gold satin top with yellow gold cotton backing. Padding is cotton wadding.
