The Roma Bungil Cultural Community Centre is a modern, multifunctional complex built by the Roma Town and Bungil Shire Councils. The powerstation, opened in 1921, is one of the few big country power generating stations which is virtually intact and has the fist coal-fired gas producer used in the Australian electricity industry. It was sited next to the artesian bore because of the requirement for water to cool the engines. The first units were Ruston and Hornsby gas engines powering DC equipment. The Cooktown Museum is a museum of maritime history with a focus on Cape York/Torres Strait Islands and the surrounding regions. The museum's collection is a tribute to seafaring men who brought civilisation to the Far North. The collection is housed in the National Bank building, built at Barcaldine in 1906. Other buildings include a wagon shed, furnished single man's railway quarters and an unusual two storey building built in 1900, which was the bookkeeper/manager's office at Westbourne wool scour. Volunteer-run society and museum housed in the Old Butter Factory of Kingston. The history of the Butter Factory dates back to 1906 when a public meeting of over 150 dairy farmers was held to discuss the building of a co-operative dairy company. The factory was built in Kingston by Waugh and Josephson and the manufacture of butter commenced on May 13, 1907. The factory produced butter which won awards locally and overseas. The factory finally ceased production in 1983.Ex-Butter factory items and those donated by society members and local people.

The lighthouse stood for 100 years offshore on a reef, 5 miles at sea. When it became obsolete it was dismantled and brought ashore and re-erected in Kingston. The lighthouse is furnished with some of the original furniture and contains all the lantern room equipment. Although not used as a lighthouse , it is still in working order.The height of the lighthouse is 134 feet and one of the few lighthouses with living quarters as part of the structure. In the museum is a collection of vintage gas appliances, gas making plant and records. The display of items depicts the history of the gas industry in Australia in general and the South Australian Gas Company in particular.
