The Museum was established in a Pioneer house by the owner, Ms Olive Wieland, as a children's project in 1990. A Morning Star Chapel was begun for children 12 years ago. The Museum complements the Chapel, which is in the front room of the house. It contains an antique organ, table and chair and pews. The Museum includes a range of shells, pictures, wood specimens, household items and many items used on farms from the 1920s and earlier.Original farm implements, Horse drawn plow and other horse drawn farming equipment.
Housed in the relocated old Tolga Railway Station, the Tolga Historical Society have a collection of photographs depicting life during World War II, when Tolga was a major base for troops and for an ambulance train, as well as photos of the activities of the local saw mills which have now ceased operations. Other photos depict local maize farming activities and the building of the nearby maize silos. New showcases have recently been constructed to hold the exhibits. Railway apparatus from the original station is still intact.
This large and varied collection of items and memorabilia which was started in 1939 was made available to the public when the museum opened in 1972. Most items have been collected from the local area and Queensland. A display of arms included knives, swords, bayonets and rifles. A helmet collection has examples from the armed forces, the police and the fire brigade. Other features include local history material, blacksmith's tools and motorcycles. There are items of interest for all ages.
The museum is housed in a building first constructed in 1917 relocated in 1926 to the CBD area, relocated to its present site in 1990, it was known locally as the "Drill Hall" and as well as military use was involved in civil affairs and school examinations, and indoor sports such ad basketball and badminton.Armed forces uniforms, Medals, Vehicles, Weapons, Photographs etc.

The museum building was formerly a Scared Heart Convent of the Sisters of Mercy; two story timber 15mts x 25mts, internal walls are stained with tongue and groove crow's ash (1946). Yarraman Railway Station (1913) and Arthur Brown's butcher shop (c.1920). The grounds contain a scrub/rainforest area, farm machinery, plant shade house, water wise garden and unique water tank system from convent days. The locality holds over 5000 items relating to Queensland military heritage. It is an all volunteer organisation and includes a research centre and library. Assistance in genealogy and research is offered to the public free of charge. The Maleny Light Horse Museum was built to house and display items of uniform, weapons, equipment, photographs, military records and memorabilia of the Australian Light Horse and associated mounted units. The Museum is housed in the old power-station building, situated directly opposite the peanut silos in the town's Heritage Precinct. The North Queensland Military Museum is housed in a casemate and magazine built in 1890. The museum is run by the Kissing Point Military Foundation Volunteers. Fort Glanville is the most complete example of a 19th century coastal artillery fort in Australia, retaining its original guns and comprising gun emplacements, magazines, guard room, barracks, gunners mess, officer's quarters and more. The museum was established under the auspices of the Australia Remembers 1945-1995 Program. The inaugural display is in sympathy with this Program and commemorates the gallantry in World War II of seven South Australians: a nursing sister and two representatives from each of the armed services. Large maps indicate where their respective awards were earned, complemented by the individual citations and short biographies of the recipients, and augmented by displays of pertinent militaria.
