Rylstone and District Historical Society

The mission of the Rylstone and Disrict Historical Society is to promote knowledge and undersanding of the history of Rylstone and adjoining districts. The members enjoy a wide range of activities to maintain, develop, interpret and promote local history and the Society's collections and buildings. The Research and Writing Group focus's on oral and local family history.

The Society's premises include the Cottage Museum, the Slab Shed, the Thyme Out Community Garden and the Bridge View Inn. We support The Cottage Museum which specialises in family and local history and is open every Sunday from10am to 3pm. The Bridge View Inn was built in the late 1860's as a public house and hotel and is listed on the Heritage Inventory. The ground floor houses a cafe and a craft and gift shop and the upper floor has been set up for B & B Accommodation.
Collection: 

The Cottage Museum collection consists of domestic items, clothing, tools and photographs portraying aspects of family life in the Rylstone district in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
