Kennedy Regiment Library
Bequeathed to the Hinchinbrook Shire Library by the voluntary historian for the 31st Battalion Infantry Association, Capt. Bob Burla RFD, ED & Bars (RL), the Kennedy Regiment Library has become a major custodian of the documentary heritage of the 31st Battalion, the Kennedy Regiment.
Since its opening in 1999 the collection has been regularly utilized by ex-servicemen and their families as well as by military historians. The decision to leave the collection to the Hinchinbrook Shire Library for safekeeping ensures access by the public to the military history of the region.

By collecting, preserving and providing access to the documentary heritage of the 31st Battalion, the Kennedy Regiment Library helps achieve the mission of the Shire Library to ?satisfy the community?s informational, recreational and educational needs by providing and promoting a quality library service with easy access to resources..?
The collection consists of a compilation of published works, periodicals, military records, photographs, writings, ephemera and artifacts relating to the long history of the Kennedy Regiment including the 31st Battalion, 31/51st Battalion and the 2/31st Battalion.
As an outreach project the Kennedy Regiment Library contributed 100 digitized images to Picture Queensland which is searchable via our website http://www.hinchinbrooklibraries.com.au/localhistory.htm
A Database of items held has been created and can be searched by Library staff for researchers. The vast majority of items have been donated and donations are still accepted. Many files have been collated on individuals and events associated with the 31st, 31/51st and the 2/31st Battalions. These are yet to be indexed fully.
