The University of Southern Queensland commenced as an Institute of Technology in Toowoomba in 1967. It achieved university status in 1992 and has 3 campuses, Toowoomba, Fraser Coast and Springfield (Brisbane). The USQ Historical Archives was established to preserve and maintain the institution's history.

Collection: 

The collection includes publications, historical papers, photos, old newspaper articles and memorabilia all relating to the university's past. Highlights of the collection include exquisite blueprint drawings for the USQ Japanese Gardens; early student newspapers from the sixties and seventies; and early correspondence depicting the struggle to establish a university on the Darling Downs in the sixties.
