"The quilt is made of white cotton, slightly padded, and measures 150 x 75cms. The pattern is made up of a large circular design in the centre with smaller circles around the edge, with close lines of running stitches in white cotton outlining the design." [ Victor Harbour National Trust]
History:

The quilt is thought to have been made by Mrs. McDonough and family (Isabel and Jack) in Scotland and brought with them to SA when they emigrated in the 1920s. It is now owned by the Victor Harbour branch of the National Trust of Australia. It is displayed in the bedroom of the old Customs and Stationmaster's house, one of the two buildings making up the Encounter Coast Discovery Centre.

Story:

"It was the custom to have quilts such as these laid out on a frame, so that any member of the household with a little time to spare could add some more stitching." [Victor Harbour National Trust]
Mr. McDonough became known as a builder of quality homes in Adelaide especially in the suburbs of Springbank and North Adelaide.
