The Gallery is located at the front of the Council Offices in Doncaster (12km or 20 minutes from Melbourne City via the Eastern Freeway). There is ample car parking for Gallery visitors and building signage marks the location of the Gallery. The Gallery entrance is prominent upon entering the building and there is wheelchair access.

Manningham Gallery was established as a public gallery in 1985 in the municipal offices by the Doncaster and Templestowe Arts Association, with strong support from the City of Doncaster and Templestowe. Management of the Gallery was handed over to Manningham City Council in 1997, and in 2001 was relocated to a purpose-built space in the new Function Centre at the Manningham City Council Offices.

Manningham Gallery is founded on a strong commitment to bringing the arts to the local community, providing a quality space for artists (including local) to exhibit and an opportunity for the community to enjoy and interact with art and artists in a relaxed environment.
