Terang & District Historical Society Inc.

T & D Historical Society was formed in 1972,and has held meetings since the first meeting held at Dalvui in August 1972.

Our Society covers the areas of Terang, Ecklin, Dixie, Boorcan, Noorat, Kolora & Glenormiston

Our aim is to collect, preserve and present items of local history that pertain to Terang & District.

Over the years a wide range of historical information has been recorded and preserved.

We have been located in several temporary locations previously. We now have a permanent home, including a Museum, and research facility, also the former Boorcan Station Building is on site.

We welcome donations of artifacts, documents and photographs that are relevant to our area.

We are also happy to borrow photographs, in any format, and documents for copying.

Meetings are held on the 4th. Monday of the month, from February to November at 8.pm. All members are welcome to attend.

We also hold Sunday afternoon gatherings throughout the year where we host guest speakers on the history of our area.

The Museum is housed in old Dixie School building which was transported to current site.

A collection of Main street scenes, prior to the two disasterous fires which destroyed nearly all the main street buildings in 1916 & 1944.

Organisation minute books, & an assortment of Local Business House account ledgers.

The Museum houses changing displays of memorabillia.

The old Boorcan Station Building, on site, contains Railway historic items.
