The Cape Byron Trust manages the Cape Byron Headland Reserve, a NPWS State Recreation Area. This reserve contains a 100-year-old lighthouse and lightkeepers' cottages, an Aboriginal midden site over 1000 years old and significant strands of littoral rainforest.The collection contains regional maritime archives of the Northern Rivers of NSW, including an 1889 "Red Sector" light.
Fassifern District Historical Society oversees Templin Historical Village which consists of a country church, a store, house/office, school, dairy, slab hut and other museum buildings grouped around a central green to recreate a village atmosphere. The Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre recalls those familiar features of the Australian landscape - corrugated iron roofs, water tanks, silos, wool sheds and shady verandahs. The site is situated very near to the first British settlement of Tasmania at Disdon Cove (1803). The immediate environment is the oldest settled area in Tasmania.The collection consists of documents and pictorial displays. The information has been mounted against a native fauna and flora painted background indicative of the type found in the area in 1803.
