Ellensbrook

Ellensbrook

Ellensbrook has a picturesque setting among the peppermint trees and sandy dunes of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. Built in 1857 by Alfred and Ellen Bussell, it was home to their large family of twelve children. Initially the dwelling was of simple construction, but with a measure of prosperity more rooms were added. Ellensbrook thus demonstrates a sequence of building methods and materials over an extended period of time from 1857 to the early 1900s.
