Tranby House

Tranby House or Peninsula Farm as it was known, was built in 1839 for yeoman farmer and Wesleyan lay preacher Joseph Hardey, his wife Anne and family. Situated on a rise above the banks of the picturesque Swan River, Tranby is a unique example of colonial farmhouse architecture. A major attraction is the property's gently sloping lawns and gardens featuring two magnificent English Oak trees, both over a century old. The property is furnished to reflect the style prevailing in the period 1800-1850. On display are original Hardey family pieces, among them a regency brass bed (c.1810) and antique polished medicine chest.
