International Digital Art

IDA is an independently curated new media art exhibition that is supported by Creative Industries, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Beijing Film Academy (BFA) China.

IDA is an internationally touring exhibition of the moving image, new media art, interactive works and photomedia with a current focus on Australian and Chinese art. The exhibition program also takes a historical approach inviting those artists who are already contributing important work that appear on the contemporary art time-line, as well as supporting emerging artists in the area.

IDA is curated by Stephen Danzig (Founder and Director) and Dawei Xu (New Media Lecturer, Beijing Film Academy). The IDA exhibition design and project coordination is undertaken by Lubi Thomas (Public Programming Coordinator, Creative Industries Precinct, QUT) who is our point of contact for technical and logistical matters.

IDA exhibition comes at a time when Australian communities become increasingly aware of the importance of art and technology and the role it plays in cross-cultural relations within a global context.

IDA began as a web-based project in 1999 and has grown to become institutionally recognized as an important historical record. It is frequently accessed by leading international museums, galleries, institutions, universities, writers, academics, artists, curators and media as an important resource in the area of research.

Chinese artists included in the IDA exhibition program have been Wang Bo, Song Dong, Wang Honghai, Bu Hua, Jin Jiangbo, Feng Jaingzhou, Maleonn, Cui Xiuwen and Dawei Xu. Australian artists represented include Magda Booth, Paul Brown, Linda Dement, Troy Innocent, Julie Raaf, Grant Stevens, Judith Wright as well as international artists Mark Amerika, Lara Favaretta, Laurence Gartel, Peter Greenaway, Jean Pierre Herbert, Istvan Horkay and Joel Seah.

The exhibition is best modified to suit spatial and equipment requirements. The exhibition can be tailored to suit your gallery. Support material can be provided in electronic form including catalogues, invites and an educational program featuring lectures, artist talks and workshops.
