Canberra
The national capital of Australia, Canberra is about 300km south west of Sydney. It is situated on the plains and hill land adjacent to the Molonglo River, a tributary of the Murrumbidgee River.
Canberra is unique among Australian cities, not only because it is the national political centre, but also because the city plan was designed in its entirety before the city came into existence. The city centres around Lake Burley Griffin.
