In the heart of Hobart's historic Salamanca Place behind the walls of five impressive Georgian warehouses and one historic cottage is one of the most exciting, lively and innovative art centres in Australia. The Salamanca Arts Centre is home to a great many art and craft, as well as artists, craft people and art organisations. Some of Tasmania's premiere cultural venues are within the Centre, including the Long Gallery, Side Space Gallery and Peacock Theatre, each with a constantly changing program of exhibitions and performances.

Occupying a spectacular position overlooking Port Phillip Bay, the Fort was one of Victoria's first colonial defence initiatives. Features include its fortified walls and tower, gun emplacements, powder magazines and uniforms, weapons and illustrative material on the history of Victoria's coastal defence.
The Museum contains displays of Corps and related military memorabilia, as well as an outdoor display of over forty restored vehicles. The Museum collection is housed in the old Esperance Railway Station building. It was officially opened in October 1976 and is staffed entirely by volunteers. Items from the wreckage of Skylab which crashed to earth near Esperance in 1979, a WAGR steam locomotive, exhibits from Sir Douglas Mawson's Antarctic expedition, a large agricultural machinery display, items from shipwrecks and items from early settlements make up a fascinating collection of exhibits. This museum is a branch of the Western Australian Museum. It's colonial, modern and recycled buildings have spectacular views. The collection highlights dioramas of natural history, maritime, whaling, social history, exploration and aboriginal interactions. Features include works by leather artisans, a lighthouse and a display from Eclipse Island, the Jardine "Sea and Touch" collection exhibition.200 items plus, from the main collection of 4,000 items in Perth.
The building is the first permanent Courthouse in the Eastern Goldfields. It is part of the block of government buildings which is comprised of the Courthouse, Mining Registrar Offices and residences, Post Office and Residences. Construction commenced in 1892. The foundations are of local stone cemented together with mud. The walls are of locally made mud bricks.
