Description:
Made from crocheted rounds with raised centre, using left-over wool. Centre is a flat circle of clusters of treble stitch. Padding is a piece of blanket. Backing is blue cotton fabric. Centre not in good repair. Colours mainly yellow, red, blue, green, pink, white and black.
History:
Made by Margaret Osterfield (born Falletta), at Burnt Gully near Bendigo (VIC) for Verna and Kaye's parents, probably in 1939-1940. Owned by Verna's sister, Kaye Osterfield.
Story:
"Margaret Osterfield, born Falletta 25th August 1856 was a very hard working farmer's wife. She and husband Frederick Osterfield had 10 children, my Father the second youngest. They lived at Burnt Gully, approx. 10 miles from Bendigo. She crocheted and embroidered until her death on her 87th birthday."

Block pattern consisting of a circle, hexagon and circle within a square. Cotton dressmaking fabrics with a few plain creams. Hand pieced and hand quilted. At some stage has been machine reinforced. Now faded, worn and damaged especially one end. Quilting pattern is four leaf clover inside large cable. The backing is 4 different pink toned fabrics in longitudinal stripes. Patchwork quilt made from rectangles of mostly woollen fabrics sewn in strips and then stitched together. Fabrics left over from dressmaking projects. Machine stitched. Colours mainly green, purple, blue, pink, pastels, in plain, checks and spots. No padding or quilting. Lining is an old bedspread.

Grandmother's Flower Garden, also known as French Bouquet. The quilt comprises 181 flowers. No padding is used. Each flower has seven hexagonal patches, cut from a metal template pattern. Floral and plain silk materials are used and mounted on pale blue moire taffeta.

Patchwork quilt made of hexagons in silks, satins and brocades. Colours are soft, mainly creams and pastels, with some deep pink, yellow, dark grey and bright blue. Quilt is bordered with a wide band of light navy moire or faille. Padded, possibly with a blanket. Backed with cotton twill.

Hand pieced hexagon quilt or table cover with centre motif of hexagons within hexagons. The remainder of the quilt is mainly hexagon rosettes. The materials are silks and brocades and it is pieced over papers in the English tradition.
