'Miegunyah' (1886) is a colonial home built when the local tradition was at its most ornate and opulent. It functions as a House Museum and headquarters of the Queensland Women's Historical Association. It is set in a tranquil leafy garden in historic Bowen Hills. The Mulgrave Settlers Museum is a "living" museum with displays and dioramas depicting scenes and the way of life from earlier times. This five room former station Mistress's residence houses the collections of the Boyne Valley Historical Society. These collections focus on the timber, gold mining and railway history which was so important to the development of the region. Two rooms of the cottage are reconstructed as a 1930s kitchen and bedroom. The rest of the cottage features display cases, photographs and wall displays on the themes of gold mining, timber and transport.

Brennan and Geraghty's Store Museum was originally an operating grocery store which opened in 1871 and traded in two generations of the same family for 101 years. The store was closed in 1972 by the founder's youngest son George. George was then aged 88 years old, he closed the store intact with unsold stock of soaps from the 1920s and curry powder from the 1890s. He also left behind the trading records, packagings and advertising material. The National Trust of Queensland purchased the store and associated family houses in 1975. Our museum of memorabilia about "Andre Stombuco" is most significant because he built Palma Rosa, the headquarters of the English Speaking Union in Queensland. Stombuco built an enormous amount of significant buildings in Australia over 100 years ago. Palma Rosa has a collection of his works. Stombuco built the Queensland Club, Her Majesty's Theatre, All Hallows School Nudgee College, Gregory Terrace and a host of significant buildings which should be preserved for the future.collection of paintings and memorabilia
The society's research centre is staffed by volunteers. Our activities include a monthly guest speaker and newsletter, regular radio interviews and personnel available for guided tours. We encourage the study, preservation and exhibition of historical records. We are a small group attempting to preserve the original site of white settlement in the area and the surrounding history. In addition, we are promoting local cultural activities on the site. Our most famous building is made from local stone and is possibly the first building built to metric dimensions in Australia.
The museum building was formerly a Scared Heart Convent of the Sisters of Mercy; two story timber 15mts x 25mts, internal walls are stained with tongue and groove crow's ash (1946). Yarraman Railway Station (1913) and Arthur Brown's butcher shop (c.1920). The grounds contain a scrub/rainforest area, farm machinery, plant shade house, water wise garden and unique water tank system from convent days. Established in 1977, the museum is located in the sugar village of Mourilyan, just south of Innisfail North Queensland, and is dedicated to Australia's sugar heritage, from 1823 to the present day. In 1988, with Bicentennial funding, the Museum's display space was significantly enlarged, exhibits improved and a retail area added.
