Golden City Paddle Steamer Museum Society
The Golden City Paddle Boat is a working repllica of the original Paddle Steamer the only remaining paddle steamer of 15 which used to operate on Ballarat's Lake Wendouree. The Golden City now operates for 45 minute cruises on a regular Sunday basis during summer (weather permitting) or can be hired on an hourly basis by groups on request. The vessel is moored at Gill's Boatshed. The boatshed has been developed to house a 100 seat restaurant (independantly operated) and the Lake Wendouree Museum. The Museum fitout ihas been recently upgraded and is now digitally oriented. It gives photographic and movie interpretations of the natural environment of the lake, as well as the family, sporting and recreational aspects of the Lake.
