Golden Dragon Museum

Established by The Bendigo Chinese Association Inc. and The Bendigo Chinese Association Museum Inc., the Golden Dragon Museum opened in 1991. It now houses a collection of some 30,000 objects being the most significant holding of Chinese heritage and cultural material in Australia.

Collection: 
A unique living collection. The largest collection of Chinese processional regalia, including dragons, costumes and banners. A selection of these cultural objects are used annually in Bendigo's Easter Parade, a local tradition to raise funds for charity since 1871.

Loong is the oldest Imperial dragon in the world, arrived in Bendigo from China (Fatt San) for the Bendigo Easter Procession in 1892. Also used in Federation 1901, to welcome the Duke
and Duchess of York, who arrived in Melbourne to open Parliament. Restored
in 2001 for Centenary of Federation.
