Katamatite Museum

This local history collection includes a growing photographic collection of local World War I and World War II veterans. A shed added in 1995 houses farming machinery and tools of local interest.

Collection: 
600 items plus photographs. Artifacts used by locals - trinkets, glassware, clothing, lamps, school work etc. Machinery shed with agricultural implements used in the "horse and buggy" days e.g. a furphy header, reaper and binder, wagon, separator, spring cart, single farrow plough etc.

Black Wedding Cape

This black cape made for her wedding in 1876 is beaded all over with small black beads on the net arranged in a diamond shape

This is the oldest item in our collection. It is trimmed with silk black ruffles at the neck line and around the edge

Spurs

Horse Riders Spurs

Description:
A set of spurs used by W Eliason whilst in the Camel Corp in Egypt in WWI

These spurs have had the rowells at the rear replaced by Egyptian money. The money is smooth edged and about the size of a one cent piece.

Header - Harvester

Description:
The Header Harvester was used for the transition period between harvesters and headers for stripping wheat.

Our header is the 3rd one of only 25 made in this model. As such it is quite unique and of great interest to agricultural researchers.

Organ

Wilkies Organ

An organ, printed "Allan and Co, Wilkies, Melbourne. This organ was given to Catherine Allert as a wedding present from her husband, John Patrick

It was used at the Methodist Church, Sunday School for many years. In 1976 it was donated to our museum by Catherine Patrick's Grand Daughter, Lorna White

Letter

A reproduction of the letter sent by Edward P to the Boys and girls of Australia on his visit here in 1920

Edward wrote the letter from the HMS Renown in Sydney dated 14th Aug 1920. He says "Australia is a very magnificent country and I think you are very fortunate to have it for your own.
