Hambledon Cottage, built in 1824, is set in some 2 acres of ground & is the second house built by John Macarthur on his Elizabeth Farm estate in Parramatta, NSW. This elegant cottage is built of sandstock brick in the Colonial Georgian style and boasts a veranda enclosed by French doors and a beautiful vaulted ceiling. It has been restored and is presented as a house museum in the domestic style of the 1820s-1850s period and contains many pieces of the era.

Facilities: 
Tours of the cottage are by guides. Parking is available in Gregory Place, adjacent to the cottage. There are picnic tables and benches in the Hambledon Park Reserve surrounding the cottage. Fairly close to Parramatta and Harris Park railway stations and the Parramatta Rivercat wharf.

Collection: 

Hambledon Cottage, built over 180 years ago, is presented as a house museum in the domestic style of the 1820s-1850s period and contains many pieces of the era. Included in the collection is an 1836 John Broadwood square piano, the Rev. Samuel Marsden's desk (c1810) and an elegant c1840s four-poster bed.
