Description:
Incomplete quilt top not padded or backed. Variously patterned chintzes and cottons, assembled as patchworked borders to centre frame. There are hexagons and assorted appliqued shapes on calico. There is a small amount of surface embroidery.

History:
The quilt top was made by Elizabeth Hardy in England c.1830 prior to her marriage. Elizabeth came to South Australia aboard the 'Kangaroo' in the 1830s. It was later owned by Miss Elsie Brice and is now part of the collection of the Embroiderers' Guild of SA Inc. Museum.

Patchwork quilt made from diamond patches in a variety of cotton materials set in a 'tumbling block' pattern. Patterns include geometrics, stripes, a 'Kate Greenway' print and colours are largely soft pastels, dark browns, with some reds and blues. The quilt has been cut down and a later border added. There is no padding and the backing is cream cotton.

Hexagon quilt with 60mm hexagons in cottons. No particular design or pattern. Patches are plain and patterned in reds, blues, pinks, browns and greys. There is a 70mm wide lace trim. The quilt is padded and the backing is wholecloth green with a floral design in pink and cream. 1860 x 1640mm
