Beaudesert
A small town west of Tamborine Mountain in the Logan River Valley, Beaudesert is 68km south of Brisbane.
There are some interesting old homesteads in the area dating from the early days of settlement, and Pioneer Cottage, established by the local historical society, gives a picture of life in bygone days.
Beenleigh
Beenleigh is just 37km south of Brisbane, in the Logan River Valley, where sugar cane cultivation and dairy farming are the principle rural activities.
The town is noted for its rum distillery.
Boonah
Buderim
A country town and tourist resort in the Sunshine Coast region, and 100km north of Brisbane. It has rich red volcanic soil and the area grows a wide variety of crops including avocados, strawberries and ginger. Australia's only ginger processing factory is in Buderim.
Caloundra
A beach resort forming part of the Sunshine Coast, it is lcoated at the northern end of Pumicestone Channel, which separates Bribie Island from the mainland. It is 100km north of Brisbane.
The name 'Caloundra' is taken from an Aboriginal word meaning 'beautiful headland'.
Canungra
In the hinterland behind the Gold Coast, Canungra high in the hills and enjoys a milder climate than the coast. It is a good kick off point to visit Lamington National Park, where the bush walking is excellent.
Canungra is best known as an Army training town, but is now emerging as a grape growing area.

Gatton is a small town situated in the Lockyer Valley around 90km west of Brisbane. The soil in the area is black and rich, so consequently farming is a major industry. The highly regarded Gatton Agricultural College is located in this area.
Glasshouse Mountains
Located between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, this unusual formation of peaaaaaaaks excite many tourists. They are actually volcanic 'plugs' from extinct volcanoes. The mountains were given their name by Captain James Cook as he passed the coast in 1770.
Gold Coast
The gold Coast in Queensland is one of Australia's premier tourist destinations. The area consists of a 32km coastal strip south of Brisbane that has been developed mainly for tourism. The Gold Coast is serviced by the Coolangatta Airport which has direct flights from major cities in Australia.
The three major Theme Parks in the area are "Sea World", "Dream World" and "Warner Bros Movie World".
Ipswich
The city of Ipswich is located on the western outskirts of Brisbane on the Bremer River. The area was originally established in 1827 as a convict settlement for the production on lime to supply the building industry in Brisbane. Later Ipswich became an important coal mining district and a river port for local farming.
Ipswich has many beautiful "Queenslander" homes and historical buildings, such as the Rhondda Colliery, and the Ipswich Grammar School.

The unique rural community of Maleny is perched high above the Sunshine Coast beaches between Brisbane and Noosa and it also overlooks the amazing Glasshouse Mountains in south-east Queensland. Mooloolaba is fast becoming a tourist resort area to rival Noosa and The Gold Coast. It is located on the Sunshine coast about half way between Caloundra and Noosa. The beachfront area has recently undergone extensive refurbishment.
Underwaterworld Oceanarium, located on the spit at Mooloolaba, is the largest oceanarium in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a centre for education as well as a major tourist attraction.
Mount Tamborine
Lush Tamborine Mountain is a favourite destination for tourists who come seeking avocados, Devonshire tea, crafts, bed-and-breakfast style accommodation and dramatic scenery.
It is also a popular haunt for hang gliders. Bushwalkers can delight in hours of walking trails and art and antique galleries abound.
Nambour
Nambour is located on the Bruce Highway between Brisbane and Gympie. Nambour is in the heart of the sunshine coast and is flanked by the Blackall Range to the west, and coastal beaches like Maroochydore to the east. Nambours main industry has been the production and milling of sugar cane, but more recently it has become a service town for fast growing population. The Big Pineapple is a popular tourist stop as is the Ginger factory in nearby Yandina.

Noosa is one of Queensland's most popular holiday destinations for the rich and famous. Hastings Street runs along the beach-front and contains trendy restaurants, boutiques, and up-market accommodation.
Noosa is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty.
