Steamtown Peterborough Railway Preservation Society
Steamtown Railway Preservation Society was formed in 1977, and had as its aim to operate steam hauled trains on a section of the gauge line between Peterborough and Eurelia to provide a working museum for rail enthusiasts and tourists. The Society has a collection of locomotives both steam and diesel, including the PMR 720 and W901 in working order plus six fully restored wooden bodied passenger carriages, which were formerly in service on the Trans Australia line with the Commonwealth Railways during the period 1917 to 1928. The Society now operates from the Roundhouse/Locomotive workshop complex built by the South Australian Railways.
