Description:
Patchwork quilt made from brightly coloured printed cotton fabrics in hexagon patches hand sewn together in rosettes, and stitched by machine onto a border of green moire taffeta. No padding. Backing is green cotton satin curtain lining. There is a matching pillow sham.

History:
Made by Jane Ellen Meynink (born Crothers, 1894-1983) in Brisbane (Qld) who began quilting in her retirement aged 70. The quilt was the 6th of 6 quilts designed and made by Jane. Owned by her daughter-in-law Barbara Meynink (born Campbell). Known as Jeannie's quilt (Jane Ellen's pet name). Used only on "high days and holidays!"
Story:
"This quilt, no 6, replaces no1, which wore out. It was used constantly. Also we got a bigger bed & Jane Ellen offered to make another quilt for us. The quilt was laid out on the floor to decide upon colour placement & arrangement for the overall design. It has an hexagonal centre."

Patchwork quilt made from cotton hexagon patches in the 'grandmother's Flower Garden' pattern, in bright prints and plains, with cream 'paths' made from dress material. Padding is flannel sheeting, and backing is the same cream material as the 'paths'. The centre of the 'flower' patches are autographed with friends' names and dates, as are some 'petals' and cream patches, in black ink.

This is one of two single bed quilts in a pattern the owner calls 'Martha Washington's Flower Garden'. Flowers are in six hexagons in a variety of prints with a plain coloured centre. The background is cream, and the backing is calico. 2500 x 1800 mm.
Quilt of machine pieced squares and rectangles using a wide variety of materials in plain colours and patterns. It is one of a pair. There is no padding and the backing is 90cm strips of calico.

Block pattern consisting of a circle, hexagon and circle within a square. Cotton dressmaking fabrics with a few plain creams. Hand pieced and hand quilted. At some stage has been machine reinforced. Now faded, worn and damaged especially one end. Quilting pattern is four leaf clover inside large cable. The backing is 4 different pink toned fabrics in longitudinal stripes. 150mm squares of old material scraps, mostly cotton, including some curtain material. There is no padding and the backing is brown lawn.

Grandmother's Flower Garden, also known as French Bouquet. The quilt comprises 181 flowers. No padding is used. Each flower has seven hexagonal patches, cut from a metal template pattern. Floral and plain silk materials are used and mounted on pale blue moire taffeta.
