Description:
Quilt in four pointed star pattern, in a variety of cottons, mostly dress fabrics in patterns and plains, but with some upholstery fabric. Quilting is circular arcs. Padding is of cotton batting, and the backing is white homespun. 1970 x 1450 mm.
History:
Quilt was made by 'Great Grandma Slape' in Lubbock, Texas, USA, in the 1960's, and is now owned by Mary Charlton. It is not used now.

" This is an unfinished section/piece of crazy quilting. Ribbons divide the piece horizontally into three sections; between these are bands of pastel fabrics and embroidery in the crazy quilt tradition. The fabrics and threads employed are very luxurious: laces, satin ribbons and silk velvets. The embroidery is very fine, employing a wide variety of stitches and threads. Patchwork quilt made from diamond patches in a variety of cotton materials set in a 'tumbling block' pattern. Patterns include geometrics, stripes, a 'Kate Greenway' print and colours are largely soft pastels, dark browns, with some reds and blues. The quilt has been cut down and a later border added. There is no padding and the backing is cream cotton.
