Description:
"The quilt is made up of many cotton hexagons of various colours, patterns and designs, finely sewn by hand, making a very attractive bedspread. Each patch is lined with lawn. It is quite a heavy quilt, with its plain border, and backing of home-spun cotton or cesarine. The family always called it a 'cottage design'."

History:
Made by Mrs Gordon Sides (born Iser) at 'Bundidjarie', Melvor Rd, Bendigo in 1947. Owned by her daughter Barbara Levy. It has been used in the bedroom occupied by Barbara's now married daughter Belinda.
Story:
Bundidjarie' is now demolished, replaced by a motel.
"My father Gordon Sides, an engineer, meticulously cut all the hexagons for my mother. My mother, maiden name 'ISER', was the fifth child the youngest of German parents who came to Bendigo in the early 1870s from Hamburg."

Quilt of 2025 hexagons stitched together to form diamond patterns. Hand sewn using paper templates. Materials are cottons and plains typical of the thirties period. The backing is blue cotton and the quilt is bound with many rows of coloured bias binding through which is treaded window cord. There is no padding. The quilt is called 'Grandmothers' Flower Garden quilt'.

Cotton quilt made in the USA. The pattern is 'Nine Patch'. The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. The backing is cotton material possibly shirting. The padding is cotton.

Cotton patchwork cover constructed from hand sewn hexagons (65mm) in cotton and linen furnishing materials. The curved edges are bound with blue and cream printed striped cotton. The backing material is not visible.

Allover pattern in woollen dress materials in blue, grey, navy, black and pink. Hand stitched. The owner suggests it was made in the 1950s or earlier. It is not used.
