Machine sewn wholecloth quilt with padding of several layers of part army blankets. The cover has been made from fabric widths of 700mm. Machine quilted.

History: 

This utilitarian quilt was made by Emily Forward at Annandale, Sydney between 1930 and 1940. It is now in the collection of Annette Gero.

Story: 

"The fabric cover for these several layers of torn old blankets is a printed imitation of 'shadow tissue', a popular 20th century furnishing fabric in which the warp was dyed according to the pattern prior to weaving��" [Annette Gero]

Cotton applique quilt in 'Kentucky Rose' wreath pattern. Cream background with applique flowers in deep pink with green stems and leaves. The wreaths, each with 4 flowers, are repeated across the quilt. It is extensively hand quilted. The backing is cream finished cotton and the padding is cotton.

Wholecloth polyester and cotton quilt in deep orange with centre frame of Creek family crest. The crest is machine zig zag appliqued to white background and has a black border. The quilt is machine sewn, hand quilted, has a white backing and a thin black binding on the border. The padding is polyester.

Machine sewn reversible quilt. Side 1 is rectangles of men's suiting samples in mainly grey, navy and black, stripes and self patterns. Side 2 is men's suiting samples but also includes woollen rectangular pieces in plain blue and deep pink. There is a hand sewn binding of fine orange-brown wool. The padding is hessian and cotton.
