Historic Beaconsfield, Tasmania. Partly located in the ruins of the brick Engine Houses and Boiler House of Tasmania's richest goldmine of 1877-1914. The new mine is located right next door and can be overlooked from our viewing platform. Your "hands-on" tour also takes you through Farming, Orcharding & Social history. Objects & historic photographs of Beaconsfield & Tamar Valley. Relics from the old Beaconsfiled Gold Mine recovered after 80 years underground including the Cornish pumping plant. Scale model of underground workings. Visitor activated waterwheel powered stamper battery, collection of restored steam engines and rural machinery.  Beaconsfield at home, hospital, school, and at war.
