This is only a new building having been officially opened in September 1991. It is situated about 100 yards from the main street through town and though only small , all collections are quite unique and graphically depict the displays they represent.

Collection: 
Gerringong Museum's strength lies in a series of small, though compact displays. As we are a dairying district this exhibit takes pride of place, includes types of cattle and tools. A Geology and Fauna display. Models of early shops - an exhibit of Kingsford Smiths "Southern Cross" and records of Pioneer families.

Scale model Southern Cross airplane, piloted by Sir Chas K. Smith in 1933 from Seven Mile Bend to New Zealand.

We have numerous photos of take-off in the early morning of 11/1/1933, this being the first commercial flight across the Tasman.

Dairy Farming Tools

Fossilisied Wood and Shells

These items, including volcanic rocks, were all found in the Gerringong area.

Al these items were lovingly collected by the late John Shortio, of Gerringong, who was very interested in Geology.

Old Gerringong Council Records

Description:
Numerous Council records, including rate books, hand written correspondence, papers and incidental items.

As Gerringong Council was amalgamated with Kiama Council, these items are very precious to us.
