Description:
Double Irish chain set horizontally and vertically. Cotton, red on cream. The cream cotton backing is turned to the front for a border. Machine and hand pieced. Diagonal hand quilting. There is a padding of thin cotton. 1770 x 2250mm.
History:
The owner's grandmother purchased the quilt c.1920 from Amana Colonies (Historic Settlement) Amana, Iowa, USA. The quilt is not used now.

Crazy patchwork quilt with pieces made from cottons, rayons, silks and taffetas. Each piece is stuffed with kapok and machine sewn to a backing then a wholecloth floral cotton backing has been added.

This quilt is of hand pieced hexagons randomly placed and stitched on to a linen backing. They are mainly dress fabrics and chintz with some hexagon flowers in the centre and corners in broderie perse. There is no padding.

Cotton scrap quilt in a pattern known as 'Grandmothers Fan'. It is hand quilted. The padding is hand carded cotton and the backing is muslin.
