Description:
Patchwork quilt in a variation of the 'Drunkard's Path' pattern, in cream and orange cotton. Cotton backing. Cotton padding. Hand quilted around patches, with a square quilted in the centre of each white square, and a cable pattern quilted in the cream and orange border. The quilt is edged with 'prairie points' (made from folded squares of fabric) in alternate orange and cream. Hand and machine sewn.

History:
Maker unknown, believed to have been made in the 1930s. Purchased by the owner, Beverly Edmonds, in 1986.
Story:
"I bought this quilt at the James Street Markets in 1986 (Toowoomba). I paid $15.00 for it. I was told it used to belong to Mrs des Payne of DALBY - I was told the quilt originally came from America. Believed to have been made in the 1930s."

Folded log cabin, foundation pieced. Machine constructed. Materials are cotton, wool, rayon, flannelette, silk and twill. There is no padding and the backing is cretonne. 2700 x 2100 mm
4 Pieces of a patchwork quilt which was formerly a whole quilt. It is pieced in cottons in blues reds and browns in many prints. There are whole circles and pieced circles against a plain cream calico background. It is wool lined and is quilted. There are the initials 'A.B.' and '1828' on a central piece. The 4 pieces are various sizes.
Patchwork quilt made of 1 inch hand paper pieced hexagonal patches (English technique), with plain and floral patterned blue fabrics in clusters at regular intervals throughout the taupe coloured patches. Centre of quilt has a cluster or 'flower' of 4 rings of patches, the centre group embroidered in blue satin stitch: 'MW 1938'. Border consists of 3 rows of medium, light and dark blue hexagons. No padding. Backing is of blue cotton sateen.

Quilt with log cabin blocks forming centre rectangle with border of crazy patchwork, in silks and velvets, handsewn on to backing of blue, beige, white woven cotton. Log cabin blocks are in rich dark and light rows forming diagonal stripes. The crazy patchwork has edges decorated with yellow and cream feather stitch. Mostly plain materials with some checks and stripes. The quilt appears to have had the edges cut down. The outer border is a dark blue figured velvet. There is no padding and the backing is maroon silk with a woven yellow motif.

Pieced repeat block in 'Dresden Plate' pattern in a variety of fabrics with pink and pale blue predominating. Scalloped outer edge. Machine pieced and hand quilted, with echo quilting of four petals between the 'Dresden Plates'. The padding is polyester, and the backing is white calico. 2600 x 1630 mm.
