Description:
Quilt of cotton hexagons, 6 form the petals of a flower with 1 in the centre. There are approximately 138 flowers in the quilt. It is all hand stitched including the edges on to deep blue backing. Wide variety of materials patterned and plain. Some were dress samples from John Wild in Wagga and some from her mother's (Betty Johnson, Wagga Wagga) dressmaking. The hexagons were stitched on papers cut from a glass template made by Celia's brother.

History:
This is Celia's (Johnson later Suddull) first quilt, commenced in the late 60s and finished 1970. She is self taught and it was made during nursing training at Sydney hospital and The Women's hospital at Paddington, mainly during night duty and days off. Celia has now made many quilts, sews constantly and enjoys many crafts. This quilt is now displayed as a wall hanging.

Double sided patchwork quilt. Both sides have central frame surrounded by borders. Side 1 has diamond of squares set in a square frame 490mm. Borders are squares and triangles. Side 2 is central frame of squares on point surrounded by plain grey velvet border then marroon border. Materials are cottons, silks, velvet, crepe, rayons in a wide variety of colours and apperned and plain. Machine construction. No quilting. Padding is a cream wool blanket.

Quilt top of hexagonal patches in silk and velvet in colours of brown, black, soft green, maroon, light yellow and blue. Some materials self patterned. Blue backing papers can be seen at edges behind some patches.
Block pattern consisting of a circle, hexagon and circle within a square. Cotton dressmaking fabrics with a few plain creams. Hand pieced and hand quilted. At some stage has been machine reinforced. Now faded, worn and damaged especially one end. Quilting pattern is four leaf clover inside large cable. The backing is 4 different pink toned fabrics in longitudinal stripes. Grandmother's Flower Garden, also known as French Bouquet. The quilt comprises 181 flowers. No padding is used. Each flower has seven hexagonal patches, cut from a metal template pattern. Floral and plain silk materials are used and mounted on pale blue moire taffeta.

Cotton quilt of pieced hexagons and some diamonds made for a baby's basket. Colours are mainly blue and pink and two 'Punch and Judy's' are appliqued in the centre. There is no padding and the backing is a cotton floral in blues and greens.

Patchwork quilt of hand sewn hexagons in a variety of print and plain cotton fabrics from 1950-1960. Colours are mainly pinks, blues, greens and yellow, with some red, and white. Quilt has a wide border of yellow poplin, which also forms the backing. No padding.
