Description:
Quilt of white cotton octagonal patches made from bleached flour bags. Each patch has 8 segments which are stitched so that the middle of the segments puff up. Quilt has a frilled edging and a cotton backing.

History:
Made by Ada and Mary Pendergast, two of the daughters of Elizabeth Pendergast (Mrs John Pendergast) c.1890. Purchased by the Omeo Historical Society in 1973 at the Penders Court Homestead Clearing Sale.
Story:
"� Good information on the quilt is scarce. To the best of my knowledge the quilt was made by two of Mrs John Pendergast's daughters, Ada and Mary around the turn of the century. I have also enclosed some photocopies from Mrs Jane Vine Pendergast's book Pioneers of the Omeo District, which you may find helpful. The quilt itself does not seem to have any filling and its design is of octagons made up of pipe shape segments �"

Brett advised later that the quilt is called a 'snow' quilt.

Patchwork quilt made from hexagon patches of cotton, silk, brocade, sateen and wool. Some silk patches are individually lined. Colours are mainly red, blues, purple, black, yellow and brown, with some pastels. Many silk patches have disintegrated, showing the paper templates. Crazy patchwork quilt with small patches in velvet, silk, brocade and cottons most with hand embroidery over the seams. There are many motifs such as flowers, butterflies, birds also dates, initials and names of local properties. It is padded with a thin soft material and the replacement backing (old) is satin. There is a wide rose coloured frill on all sides.

A 'Farm Life Quilt' made from alternate squares of beige linen and brightly coloured cotton headcloth. The coloured squares are farm animals and birds in a variety of embroidery stitches. The beige squares have a cornucopia design embroidered in dark brown stem stitch. There is a wide border front and back of beige linen. The backing is brown and white check cotton. There is no padding.
Wholecloth quilt in white cotton voile with alternating designs of Australian wildflowers worked in multi coloured cottons and shadow work. It is backed with yellow voile. There is no padding.

Patchwork quilt made from a variety of printed cottons over 70 prints, using shirting and dress fabrics, fabrics also from pyjamas, curtains, aprons, tablecloths. The centre medallion is a square within a square with white borders, the inner frame made of sawtooth triangles. This is surrounded by pieced triangles, square within a square and crosses. Outer frame of sawtooth triangles, and outer border pieced of squares and triangles. Colours are pinks, blues, burgundy and pastels, with floral, stripe and check prints. Lining of cotton. Backed with a printed cotton. Quilt is bound on all edges.
