Description:
Quilt of white cotton octagonal patches made from bleached flour bags. Each patch has 8 segments which are stitched so that the middle of the segments puff up. Quilt has a frilled edging and a cotton backing.
It was made to suit a narrow single bed.

History:
Made by Ada and Mary Pendergast, two of the daughters of Elizabeth Pendergast (Mrs John Pendergast) c.1890. Purchased by the Omeo Historical Society in 1973 at the Penders Court Homestead Clearing Sale.
Story:
"� Good information on the quilt is scarce. To the best of my knowledge the quilt was made by two of Mrs John Pendergast's daughters, Ada and Mary around the turn of the century. I have also enclosed some photocopies from Mrs Jane Vine Pendergast's book Pioneers of the Omeo District, which you may find helpful. The quilt itself does not seem to have any filling and its design is of octagons made up of pipe shape segments �"

Brett advised later that the quilt is called a 'snow' quilt.

" This is an unfinished section/piece of crazy quilting. Ribbons divide the piece horizontally into three sections; between these are bands of pastel fabrics and embroidery in the crazy quilt tradition. The fabrics and threads employed are very luxurious: laces, satin ribbons and silk velvets. The embroidery is very fine, employing a wide variety of stitches and threads. Patchwork quilt, all cotton including cotton padding. Pattern is based on squares and a cross. Variety of fabrics, plain and patterned. Hand stitched and quilted.

Hexagon quilt in dress and shirting cottons constructed in frame style with a centre rosette of 7 patches surrounded by 4 borders of patterned hexagons alternating with cream patches. The quilt has an inner border of triangles then rows of rosettes alternating with cream patches. The outer border is triangles. There is no padding. The backing is cream linen and has had a 20th century white cotton sateen slipstitched to it.

Patchwork quilt made of rectangles of woollen fabrics from dressmaking projects. Pieces have been stitched together in no particular order. Colours are predominantly dark red and light grey, with some green, pink and blue. Fabrics are plain, checks and weaves. No padding or quilring. Backing is yellow curtain fabric.
