Description:
Quilt of white cotton octagonal patches made from bleached flour bags. Each patch has 8 segments which are stitched so that the middle of the segments puff up. Quilt has a frilled edging and a cotton backing.
It was made to suit a narrow single bed.

History:
Made by Ada and Mary Pendergast, two of the daughters of Elizabeth Pendergast (Mrs John Pendergast) c.1890. Purchased by the Omeo Historical Society in 1973 at the Penders Court Homestead Clearing Sale.
Story:
"� Good information on the quilt is scarce. To the best of my knowledge the quilt was made by two of Mrs John Pendergast's daughters, Ada and Mary around the turn of the century. I have also enclosed some photocopies from Mrs Jane Vine Pendergast's book Pioneers of the Omeo District, which you may find helpful. The quilt itself does not seem to have any filling and its design is of octagons made up of pipe shape segments �"

Brett advised later that the quilt is called a 'snow' quilt.

Small rectangular bed cover, probably child's or even doll's, made from rectangles of cream linen stitched together with hand sewn french seams. The top surface is decorated with small squares and rectangles of coloured silk, velvet, wool and cotton attached approximately 25mm apart, with 3 stitches in centre of patch to attach to background. Patchwork quilt of hexagons in pattern known as 'Grandmother's flower garden'. All cotton. Rosettes are set in a white 'path' with the centre and first ring in solid colours and the second ring prints. There is a yellow border and an outer border in pink. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. The padding is cotton and the backing is white cotton with 2 border edges in light and dark blue. These borders were originally part of the top. There is an inscription "Dear daughter from Mother".

Machine pieced top of squares of part jumpers, most hand knitted. The padding is a blanket. The backing is an old curtain.

Repeat block quilt top based on hexagons, each 350 mm diameter. Six hexagons and a centre one make a 'flower' and these are set in rows against a plain calico background. Patterned cotton fabrics are used for the hexagons, small prints, fine stripes and tiny flowers. As it is a quilt top only, there is no lining or padding. 2100 x 1800 mm
Taylor's sample quilt made from men's suit swatches, mainly greys and blues. Edging is 6cms wide, of blue flannelette. Padding is an old grey blanket, and the backing is of printed pattern corduroy. 1680 x 920 mm.
Patchwork quilt made from rectangles of samples of men's woollen suitings, in greys and blues and some browns. The rectangles were machine sewn together and then sewn in rows or strips. Originally the quilt had a rabbit skin backing, removed due to deterioration. No padding. Machine sewn.
