Double sided frame quilt. All cotton. Extensive hand quilting, cables, overlapping circles and a large circular quilting design in the centre. The padding is a cream and blue blanket. It is very heavy.

History:
Fran Williams, the present owner, purchased the quilt at "Amnesia's" Evandale, Tasmania. It came from a local estate. It is not used.

This quilt has been strip pieced with no regular pattern. It seems a large quilt has been made then folded in half. The materials used are woollen skirting pieces in a variety of colours. It could be used either way. There is no padding and it is very heavy.

" This is an unfinished section/piece of crazy quilting. Ribbons divide the piece horizontally into three sections; between these are bands of pastel fabrics and embroidery in the crazy quilt tradition. The fabrics and threads employed are very luxurious: laces, satin ribbons and silk velvets. The embroidery is very fine, employing a wide variety of stitches and threads. The top of this utility quilt is machine pieced rectangles of woollen materials joined in strips. It includes corduroys and velveteens and woollen tartan. The backing is an Indian cotton blanket.
