Description:
Unfinished cotton frame quilt. The centre square is 4 triangles and this is surrounded by a border of smaller triangles. Most of the other borders are of triangles in a wide variety of materials, printed and plain.

History:
This unfinished quilt was made by Bridget Durack at Thylungra Station, Quilpie, Queensland pre 1886 when she died. It is now owned by her great grand-daughter Fleur Lehane. It is not used.
Story:
The quilt is believed to have been made at 'Thylungra' Quilpie Queensland where Bridget lived with her son Patsy from the early 1870s. She was a true pioneer of the district and the life of the Duracks in opening up the Cooper Creek country and later the epic trek with 7000 head of cattle to the Ord River in WA is graphically told by Mary Durack in 'Kings in Grass Castles'.

Some individual patches have names, initials, dates probably relating to family members. There are also place names several of which may refer to Australia. American quilt in 'Dresden Plate' pattern. Hand stitched, Wide variety of cotton materials used in plain and patterned materials. The backing is cream cotton. It is hand quilted. This quilt was made from an American McCalls pattern consisting of transfers for the pieces and for the quilting design.

Patchwork quilt made from brightly coloured printed cotton fabrics in hexagon patches hand sewn together in rosettes, and stitched by machine onto a border of bright teal blue fabric. Fabric scraps for the patchwork were donated from friends. No padding. Backing is polished cotton curtain lining.

Cotton quilt made in the USA. The pattern is called 'Turkey Tracks'. It has a cotton backing and a bottle green binding. The red patches have faded to pink. The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted. Two names are written on tape sewn on the back viz: Cora Phelps and M.Hoover.
