Description:
Unfinished cotton frame quilt. The centre square is 4 triangles and this is surrounded by a border of smaller triangles. Most of the other borders are of triangles in a wide variety of materials, printed and plain.

History:
This unfinished quilt was made by Bridget Durack at Thylungra Station, Quilpie, Queensland pre 1886 when she died. It is now owned by her great grand-daughter Fleur Lehane. It is not used.
Story:
The quilt is believed to have been made at 'Thylungra' Quilpie Queensland where Bridget lived with her son Patsy from the early 1870s. She was a true pioneer of the district and the life of the Duracks in opening up the Cooper Creek country and later the epic trek with 7000 head of cattle to the Ord River in WA is graphically told by Mary Durack in 'Kings in Grass Castles'.

The backing is cotton and "E.M.B." is cross stitched in one corner. "Back is interesting as it's all the same fabric, joined but it appears to have been stitched with a running stitch (cf quilting) before it was attached to the front. The other side is mainly flannelette in stripes and patterns similar to pyjama material. The padding is pieced patches of worn jumpers that were too matted to be unpicked. Machine construction.

Cotton patchwork quilt in double wedding ring pattern in pastel prints. Quilted in a design of geometric flowers. Padding is probably cotton wadding, backing is cream calico. 2270 x 1970 mm.
Cotton scrap quilt in a pattern known as 'Grandmothers Fan'. It is hand quilted. The padding is hand carded cotton and the backing is muslin.
