Birtwistle Local Studies Library
Birtwistle Local Studies Library is now located in the City of Armadale Library in the Armadale Central Shopping Centre.
Ivor T. Birtwistle was an editor for the West Australian newspaper as well as an historical researcher. Mr Birtwistle was President of the Armadale - Kelmscott Historical Society and a member of the Royal Western Australian Historical Society. The collection donated to Council on Mr Birtwistle's death forms the core of the Local Studies Collection.

The collection houses the history of the area in various forms including photographs, biographies, family histories, maps, oral histories, DVDs, council records and books on local and Western Australian history.
The collection also includes a number family history research materials such as CD-ROMS including Ancestry Library Edition which is available online.
