Description:
Crazy patchwork quilt top for single bed, made from cotton patches in plains, checks, stripes and florals, machine pieced directly on to a backing of brown, yellow and white check cotton. A saxe blue cotton headcloth gathered skirt or flounce is on three sides, split at the sides. 1920 x 95omm
History:
Made by Fanny Grace Blenkiron, at Angaston (SA) between 1950 and 1960. Owned by her daughter-in-law, Ida Blenkiron.
Story:
Pieces of patchwork include remnants from some of Ida's favourite dresses, including pieces from the plaid dress she wore at school.

Small patchwork piece in crazy patchwork in silks, satins, and velvets. Embroidered initials 'A.N' also an embroidered crest, the date 1869 with initials 'A.W.N'. There is also decorative stitching over the joins of most pieces. It is not padded. The backing is Jacquard.

Cotton quilt made from squares of patterned and plain materials. It has a mauve cotton flounce around the border and a mauve cotton backing. There is no padding.

The suffolk puffs are mainly cotton in a wide variety of colours and plain and patterned materials. The puffs are small squares rather than the more usual circles. The backing is teal satin hand stitched to the top. There is a teal bow at one end. There is no padding.

Crazy quilt made from a lot of light wools including gabardine types. Patches are outlined in embroidery stitches and there is additional embroidery on some patches. It is worked in 3 ply wool thought to be Patonyle (early blend of nylon and wool). The backing is a floral print mainly black with a cream flowers, brought to the front as a binding. Occasional stitches holding front to back by way of quilting. There is no padding.

Medallion style all cotton quilt made in the USA. Hand pieced with centre panel of 'cheater' material pre printed in a patchwork design. Bordered with 'Nine Patch' and sashing. The backing is printed cotton and the padding is cotton. The quilt has yellow tufting or ties in wool.
