Description:
Quilt in traditional Bow Tie pattern. Hand pieced and hand quilted with a wide variety of late 1930-1940 dress fabrics. The central block is cream homespun with the outline of the bow ties quilted. The padding is cotton and the backing is yellow muslin. 2080 x 1830mm.
History:
The maker and history is unknown. The quilt was bought by Judy Newman in America in 1986 and is now owned by Valerie Gorey. The quilt is used.

Native flower prints, including wattle, on a white background. Plain hexagons in white, yellow and blue form a scalloped border. Patchwork knee rug made from maroon wool cut up from a garment into different sized rectangles. Pieced by hand, then all edges crocheted with coloured wool thread. The top was then machined and quilted to a pale blue wool backing. No padding.

Square patchwork quilt made from rectangles of woollen tailors' samples, each patch outlined with machine fancy stitch using red thread. Machine sewn. The backing is a green and white check fabric. No filling.
Frame quilt in cotton with cotton backing. Centre square of floral chintz surrounded by 8 smaller squares with floral and probably Egyptian motifs. 4 surrounding frames of plain and patterned cotton in squares, diamonds and strips. Hand stitched and hand quilted. Has been used as a curtain and has metal rings attached to one edge.

Suffolk Puff quilt with puffs mainly in patterned cotton pieces saved from 60 years of household sewing. Puffs are formed into rosettes and the holes are on the top making a decorative feature. It is hand sewn.
