Description:
Cotton quilt in a design called 'Crossed Canoes'. Yellow background with various coloured cotton prints. Machine pieced and hand quilted in a diamond pattern. There is a thin padding and the backing is the same yellow cotton as on the top.

History:
This quilt was made in Kansas USA, near Wichita, in 1922. The name and details about the maker are unknown. It was purchased by the Embroiderers' Guild Victoria from an American quilt exhibition in 1984.

Each block is machined on to calico. Materials include velvets, corduroys, interlock, taffetas and silver lame. There is a 170mm bottle green border and a single piece of mid brown synthetic for the backing. The padding is probably dacron.

This Adelaide Chronicle wildflower quilt has alternating squares of green and fawn headcloth embroidered with Australian wildflowers on the fawn squares and stylised floral motifs on the green squares. It is bordered and backed with the same green material. It is padded.
