Pingrup is a townsite that is 359km SE of Perth. The major land use is cereal and sheep farming, with an emphasis on wheat and barley production.
Although only a small town, Pingrup does however provide excellent facilities for the community and for visitors and they are working on continually improving them. These include sporting facilities for football, hockey, tennis, golf and cricket. Pingrup recently obtained a grant for the Centenary of Federation for the building of the Pingrup Historical and community Facilities Centre. The town also proudly boast a Telecentre and Library.
To help guide community development and provide leadership, the community has formed the Pingrup Progress Association. In the last few years the tiny town has faces many hardships including drought, frosts and now un-seasonal rain. This has led to a dwindling in the population. Despite this the community is still positive about ensuring the Pingrup remains a viable and strong community well into the future.
