Description: 
Very finely hand stitched quilt. 4cm squares of taffeta, silk, brocade, cotton, sateen, crepe with 12 squares set on point to make a block. The blocks are then randomly placed. There is no padding and the backing is fine burgundy coloured cotton. 1690 x 1520mm
History: 

Nothing is known about the maker or the history of the quilt except that it was purchased in South Australia by the present owner. It is only used for display.

Story: 

"2nd purchase in love affair of old 'quilts'. Bought from private person (male) at Strathalbyn SA. The few things he had for sale in the textile range seemed to be the old family things and it was unwanted because of its condition. No one else but me seemed to want it either." [Valerie Rivers]
