History:
The museum label reads: "A patchwork quilt made by Mrs Joshua in 1923. Mrs Joshua was at that time over 80 years old. She was living in the small village of Bodangora, about 7 or 8 miles from Wellington. The village was at one time a thriving gold mining town, complete with stamper batteries. Mrs Joshua was a Welsh lady and gave this rug to Mr Bert Clarke's mother".
Apparently Mrs Joshua was almost blind when she made the quilt and gave it as a gift to Mr Clarke's mother who lived at the time in Wellington, and who used it there."
Donated to the Coffs Harbour Historical Society & Museum NSW

" This is an unfinished section/piece of crazy quilting. Ribbons divide the piece horizontally into three sections; between these are bands of pastel fabrics and embroidery in the crazy quilt tradition. The fabrics and threads employed are very luxurious: laces, satin ribbons and silk velvets. The embroidery is very fine, employing a wide variety of stitches and threads. This patchwork piece is padded with cotton wadding and backed with tarlatan." [NGA] 1170 x 1020mm
