Description:
Single bed quilt made from a variety of stud cattle show ribbons won over 20 years. The ribbons are hand stitched together and the quilt is backed with blue taffeta. It has a gold fringe.

History:
The ribbons were sewn together by Mrs. Small in the 1970s for Bud and Patricia Ford the owners.
It is used in the visitors' flat at Bud and Patricia's home.
Story:
The quilt is a collection of stud cattle show ribbons won over 20 years. They are mainly reserve and grand champion ribbons for Poll Devon bulls and females at various shows including the Royal National Show.
When Bud Ford was asked if there was anything else he would like to say about the show ribbon quilt he said " No, just that showing is a waste of bloody money but a great way to have your children, when growing up, taught to care for animals, sit on a hay bale at the show and meet all the most interesting people in Queensland".

Cotton quilt entirely of hesagons. Some are formed into rostttes or flowers and have a print border of 12 hexagons, an inner circle of 6 hexagons in a plain colour and a yellow hexagon centre. The padding is cotton wool and the backing plain off white cotton.

Patchwork cot or pram quilt made of diamond patches in the Tumbling Block pattern. Patches are made from cotton, corduroy and velvet, with red, black, teal blue, green, brown and cream predominating. No padding. Backing is of green wool and the quilt is bound with dark red crushed velvet.

Silk quilt in diamonds with hexagon border. "Toward the edge of the quilt, the design of diamonds made into blocks offers an optical illusion, where the diamonds can be seen to form stars. The border is made up of these stars and half-diamonds, and the entire quilt is trimmed with lace and triangular flaps made of tiny hexagons." Hand pieced hexagon quilt or table cover with centre motif of hexagons within hexagons. The remainder of the quilt is mainly hexagon rosettes. The materials are silks and brocades and it is pieced over papers in the English tradition.

Patchwork quilt of hand sewn hexagons in a variety of print and plain cotton fabrics from 1950-1960. Colours are mainly pinks, blues, greens and yellow, with some red, and white. Quilt has a wide border of yellow poplin, which also forms the backing. No padding.
