Description:
Patchwork quilt made from Suffolk Puffs in bright and pastel colours in cotton, cotton polyester blend and satin. Patches are a mixture of dark and light prints, set in groups of 4 patches. No lining or backing. Hand sewn. Written in ink on the back of the quilt: "Made by Agnes Emma Vonhoff for G.daughter Beverly Edmond".

History:
Made by Agnes Emma Vonhoff (born Schultz) in 1967, Toowoomba (Qld). Agnes was born 1897 in Goombungle, Qld, and died 1976 in Toowoomba Qld. Made for her grand-daughter, Beverly Edmonds, who owns the quilt.
Story:
Her grand-daughter Beverly Edmonds, asked Agnes to make a suffolk puff quilt; the negotiated price was $25.00.
"Emma was not a sewer. Fabric pieces supplied by Beverly Edmonds. Clothing was made by the local dressmaker. Emma managed mending etc activities associated with farm life. She was a great cook!"

Quilt with hexagons forming lozenge or honeycomb pattern. Predominantly greens and pinks in brocatelle (rayon brocade). All hand stitched. The backing is lime green rayon. The padding is probably dacron.

Crazy patchwork quilt made from silk, cotton and velvet in pastels and rich dark colours with a wide border of dark burgundy silk velvet. Decorative embroidery stitches including straight, herringbone and feather edge each piece. Most pieces have embroidered motifs including crown, flowers, horseshoe and Australian motifs of wattle and emu. Date '1891' worked in cross stitch on one piece. The padding is wool and the backing dark red satin and these are joined by diagonal machine stitching in yellow thread.

Quilt made from furnishing materials, mostly velour type or uncut moquette. The colours are dusty pinks and beige/camel/blue. It has been put together by making wide strips of various sized rectangles sewn together and any missing piece in a rectangle added by using another piece of material to complete the shape. There is no padding and the backing is winter cotton.

Patchwork Quilt consisting of diamond shapes forming a Tumbling Block pattern. All cotton, mainly patterned pieces, with signs of blotting paper templates. Hand sewn. The outer border of patches consists of off-cuts from nurses' uniforms of the times as 2 of the maker's daughters were nurses. It is thought most other squares were probably from material samples from large city stores such as Anthony Horderns. Backing is red cotton in a paisley design.

Patchwork quilt with repeat blocks of Log Cabin pattern in cottons. One side of the square has blue fabrics, the other side has pink. Blocks are separated by a floral and a blue strip. The quilt is finished with a dark blue border on 2 sides, and a light and dark blue border on the other 2 sides. Dark blue binding around edge. Hand quilted with a cable pattern on the borders. Padding is probably synthetic. The quilt is backed.
Repeat block in Dresden Plate pattern using various cotton fabrics from the 1920s. Quilted with a flower in the purple/pink centre and squares elsewhere. Border is furnishing fabric. The padding is cotton that is disintegrating and the backing is calico. 1980 x 2100mm
