Description: 
Cotton quilt in pattern called 'Feathered Star'. Made in the USA. Hand pieced and hand quilted. The quilting is in a geometric and feather design. The padding is thin cotton.

The maker is unknown. Margery Arnold Creek inherited the quilt from her Mother Margery Eleanor Arnold (1912-1996)

Story: 

Nothing is known of the early history of the quilt. Margery E. Arnold made quilts and collected them from the 1970s. She chose quilts to buy for their fine workmanship and quilting designs.

Pieced squares, each square with a cross and 4 small squares in red. Crosses are in rows alternating 2 shades of blue and 2 of brown. Cream background. Now unlined but remnant blanket like material in corners. Originally had a cotton frill. Quilt was made from scraps of material used for making children's clothes.

This quilt is of hand pieced hexagons randomly placed and stitched on to a linen backing. They are mainly dress fabrics and chintz with some hexagon flowers in the centre and corners in broderie perse. There is no padding.
