Beverley Edmonds
Patchwork crazy quilt made from pieces of taffeta, brocade, grosgrain fabric and ribbon, silk velvet, and jacquard woven furnishing fabrics, mostly silk, with some cotton. The colours are a mixture of darks, brights, and light patches. Centre patch has crudely painted flowers and leaves. All seams are embroidered with feather stitch in cream cotton thread. Backing is of calico, which is stained. Handsewn.

The Pioneer Women's Hut
Cot quilt constructed of rectangles of orange, red and yellow striped material and ruched yellow taffeta. It is pieced so the stripes follow alternate directions. The top, bottom and sides are long strips of the same material. The pattern is repeated on the back. The edge is bound in ruched taffeta. The padding is a thick material.

The quilt is constructed from 64 x 35mm rectangles of printed cottons possibly samples as there are several colourways of some patterns. The pieces have been sewn together in rows and then the rows joined. There is no padding and the backing is khaki desoutti.

Patchwork quilt made from Suffolk Puffs in bright and pastel colours in cottons. Patches are a mixture of dark and light prints, including gingham, floral and geometrics, set in groups of 4 patches. No lining or backing. Hand sewn, the patches are joined with fine crochet cotton.

All cotton top and backing. Machine construction. Patches, mainly rectangles, joined in strips and then the strips joined to form the top. The back is a similar construction but larger pieces. The padding is made from lots of hand and machine knitted woollen pieces, including jumpers. Black check binding. It is very heavy. It is not quilted. It is not used. The owner calls it a Wagga.

Patchwork quilt made of blocks in the Log Cabin pattern, in a 'Courthouse Steps' variation, which results in alternate bands across the quilt of dark and light. Silk and silk-like fabrics used. Padding is made from spun wool, backing is cotton satin and the quilt is edged with a pink cotton satin ruffle.

Cot quilt of strips of printed blue and white striped cotton fabric with white strips in between. Machine pieced and hand quilted.

Quilt made of two overlapping woollen, children's garments, heavily embroidered with wool (herringbone stitch), backed with checked flannelette, edged with woollen crochet. Woollen crochet edging has 5 rows of treble crochet, with one row of double crochet on edge. No apparent padding.

Narrandera and Sturt Historical Society
The quilt is double bed size, white, damask type material with a pale pink light cotton backing. The quilt itself is made up of rectangular pieces which are laid out in a pattern and joined to each other with 'suffolk puff' patches of the same white material. The edge is crocheted wheels with tassels made about 100mm long, hanging about 50mm apart all the way around.

Double sided patchwork rug/quilt. Squares, 26 to 28 cms, machined together in strips and then the strips joined. Materials include, pink chenille, red machine knitted wools, velveteen, plain and patterned wools. All materials were scraps or from worn clothing. The quilt was made in one piece and then folded over.

Child's quilt. Top pieced in cotton squares in yellow, brown and cream. Backing is plain cream cotton. Padding is a thin layer of cotton. Binding on the edge is machined on and then hand stitched to the back. Hand quilted on a diagonal grid with 10 stitches to the inch.

An Adelaide Chronicle bird quilt. Alternate squares of green and fawn headcloth embroidered with native birds in fawn squares, butterflies in outline, beige threads, in green squares. Bordered and backed with the same green fabric. It is padded.

Double sided quilt constructed from large irregular shaped pieces of dress materials from the fifties. They are machine sewn onto old sheeting and there is a turquoise and white print binding 45mm wide. The padding is cotton wadding.

Pictorial quilt, pieced randomly from wool. Hand appliqued and embroidered. It has a central Miss Muffet theme with the spider and cattle under a tree. There is a 'Centenary Border 1836 - 1936' and an inscription 'Good Times, Let's Look Back'. The backing is 2 pieces of plaid suiting in grey/blues.

Crazy patchwork piece, probably a table runner. Each end is pieced differently. The backing is an open weave cotton. There is no padding.

Incomplete quilt top not padded or backed. Variously patterned chintzes and cottons, assembled as patchworked borders to centre frame. There are hexagons and assorted appliqued shapes on calico. There is a small amount of surface embroidery.

Rectangular pieces made from tailors' swatches and machine pieced in strips. Some pieces darned. Main colours blue, grey and brown. No padding. Backing is floral cotton with orange and brown flowers.

Patchwork quilt made from rectangles of brightly coloured cottons in floral, striped, checked and geometric patterns. The rectangles are sewn in strips and then pieced in rows. Machine sewn.

The original quilt has had 3 covers, 2 of which are still on it. The first quilt, a domestic Wagga, is made from pea seed bags and an old sheet covered with red paisley cretonne. This has been recovered with a red/yellow/brown paisley cotton twill in a pillow slip construction. One side of the next outer cover has a strong vibrant loosley floral pattern with a black background and a border in black, yellow and aqua. The other side is a large piece of cotton with a pattern of abstract rectangles and there are other floral and geometric cotton pieces. There was a fourth layer, a slip cover that is no longer on the quilt.
