Wholecloth Quilts
Wholecloth quilt of white linen with signatures embroidered in satin and stem stitch. Approximately 400 signatures as well as the names of district servicemen are arranged in flower shapes and geometric grids. Embroidered title on the quilt reads: 'Rylstone Autograph Quilt. For our Australian wounded, Dardanelles, 1915.' There is no backing.

This quilt is made up of 25 squares, each 10 x 10 inches of pure white linen. Each squre has been hemstitched around and very neatly sewn together. The centre square is embroidered 'Gilgandra Methodist Church Renovations completed 1st October 1926. J.W.Hynes, President of Conference'. All other squares have names or initials beautifully embroidered in white. There are 238 signatures, 60 initials plus centre square.

Cot quilt with both sides of faded blue cotton sateen with pale brown moire effect lines. Piped edges. Machine quilted to form two borders around a central rectangular panel, which has a simple but decorative stitched design with six points, at each of which is a small eyelet, finished with cream thread. The padding is feathers.
Wholecloth quilt from Macedonia. Both sides are made of satin. Old gold colour on one side and burgundy on the other. It is machine quilted with 3 parallel lines of stitching around the edge and a double row of stitching forming triangles in the centre. The padding is raw cotton grown in (FYRO) Macedonia.

Quilt top has a white background with pink and purple applique hearts and stars in the centre within a pink circle and square border, letters are appliqued in pink. Inscription is: 'Mary Hunt is my name Dapto is my dwelling place When I am dead and all my'� (incomplete)

Machine made wholecloth quilt in gold satin cotton. "�...perhaps a new cover over the blue japara cotton base. Vaguely oval central medallion with floral tulip pattern in trapunto with ruching. Outside this is another trapunto pattern." [Edith Young]

A Durham quilt. All white mercerised cotton. The quilting is a floral design in each corner, a large floral design in the centre, edging all around of scallops and filled in with small squares on the diagonal. It is padded.

Wholecloth quilt with both sides a furnishing cotton. The material has a pattern of pink flowers on a brown/blue/white striped ground. The top has a cream border top and bottom and has been covered with 'Stabiltex'. The padding is felted grey wool.

California Rose applique in green and pink on cream background. The central block is set on point with the same decorative grape leaf and grapefruit design used as a border. The quilt is hand sewn and finely quilted. There is no padding and the backing is calico.

Marcella quilt filled with old blanket. Large diagonal quilting stitches. Running Stitch group suggests it is possibly a wagga filler which would have been covered with a cretonne sleeve.

This padding originally had a cretonne cover. "The filling was made from a variety of old woollen clothing and worn and patched woollen banket scraps, handstitched together with large running stitches. The pieces of clothing include heavily darned machine and hand knitted socks, a knitted wool bed jacket, part of a baby's machine knitted blue jumper, hand knitted baby's leggings, a number of darned singlets and underpants, a darned knitted pink bootee and other assorted knitted woollen garments and pieces of flannel. Cotton name tags on some of the garments are printed with the name C.S.Yates, the maker's maiden name.
The upper side is covered with an old and torn woollen blanket with many holes and the reverse with cream cotton. The whole is partly machine stitched around the edge and across the filling, and originally had a cretonne cover." [PHM]
