Griffith Pioneer Park Museum
Covered on both sides with corded floral chintz, probably originally curtains. Not attached to padding. Padding is worn grey blanket onto which has been stitched (with large running stitches) a variety of unpicked and part woollen garments, including a navy overcoat (with pockets), handknitted garment (possibly a singlet) and herringbone tweed skirt. The cover and lining are currently separate, outer stitching unpicked by the donor for washing prior to donation and not re-attached.

The top is a piece of checked flannelette around which is a border of simple animal shapes appliqued in blanket stitch. The backing cosists of sample squares of Moygashel linen joined in rows. The quilt was made for a playpen. There is no padding.

Greek wholecloth quilt of hand woven cotton with one side red and white check and the other pink. Hand quilted in an all over pattern of parallel lines about 100mm apart. The padding is raw cotton.

Adelaide Chronicle kit quilt of Australian wildflowers embroidered on squares of sandy coloured cotton. The quilt had a green border that is now being replaced.
Robyn Oliver
Wholecloth quilt, brown (tan) sateen both sides. Edges turned in and finished with fine running stitch. Hand quilted, simple cross hatched design with two linear borders. Has had flower shaped hole cut from the centre of one side. 5cm thick.

The inner part of the quilt is made from potato bags stitched together. These have been covered with a ticking type fabric held to the bags with large stitches using a string type thread. This whole inner layer is covered with muslin, dyed orange. The dye is thought to have been a Dolly dye. The quilt is very heavy. There are small hand stitches in each corner through all layers.

Whole cloth quilt in rose coloured cotton sateen. The backing is the same material. Hand sewn and hand quilted. The quilting is in a medallion style. The padding is kapok.

Quilt, machine sewn, has one side of floral cretonne, red floral on cream background. Other side is of fawn cotton knit, irregular shaped pieces with a mixture of straight and curved edges, edges are turned under and the top stitched together. Padding appears to be old blankets, possibly with other material sandwiched in between as it is lumpy.

Quilt is made from layers of complete clothing covered with calico and stitched through all layers by machine. Clothing used includes a full skirt, a shirt, and a nightgown. All fabrics are cream. Cover has been replaced by others as the calico wore. White ants have eaten part of the quilt, exposing some of the clothing used as padding.

Wholecloth quilt with the top of red satin and the other side of faded red cotton. All hand stitched. The quilting pattern is a five petal flower in the centre of a circle with parallel lines radiating to the border. The padding is raw cotton.

The top is an old army blanket, the backing is jute bags and the padding is old woollen material and parts of the maker's mother's fake leopard skin coat. It is hand sewn using a darning needle and fishing line.

Wholecloth quilt of [cotton], red on one side and browny fawn on the other. Each side is made from three large strips of material sewn together. Qulted in red thread, with intricate patterns of squares, circles, spirals etc. Centre quilting motif is a spoked or segmented circle. Closely quilted. Padding is thin.

Wholecloth quilt, made from dusty pink 'Francis Burke' cotton fabric. Quilt has square tailored corners at the bottom, the outer part of the quilt has piping and is quilted in 1" lines on a sewing machine. The centre has a decorative 'H', quilted and filled with heavy cotton cord, and sits 53cm down from the top. A quilted diamond pattern fills the centre of the quilt. Cotton padding, backing made from joined cotton army sheets. The fabric has faded and some stitching has come undone at upper left edge.

"Greek whole cloth quilt. Completely reversible. One side is sky blue satin and the other is coral pink satin. Is machine quilted with a central medallion of a circle with points surrounded by scallops. There is a fan shape in each corner. There is a border all around with scallops and three defining border lines. Is machine quilted with blue on the blue side and pink thread on the pink side." [Jenny Zounis] There is 2 cm thick padding, thought to be kapok. 2000 x 1720 mm.
Barbara Bullock
This Adelaide Chronicle quilt or cover is made from white cotton headcloth. A double band of green headcloth 105mm wide is attached with hemstitching. The top is divided into 225 x 210mm blocks also with green hemstitching. Each alternate block features stylised leatherwood flower and leaves and is embroidered in apricot stranded cotton. The alternate blocks feature other Australian wild flowers. The cover is entirely hand sewn. There is no backing.

Wholecloth rug/ quilt. Front and back the same pattern. Cotton, creamish background with bunches of blue flowers. Machined. Some large patches. There is padding but it is unknown exactly what.

This Adelaide Chronicle quilt or bedcover is single thickness white linen with a double thickness wide green border hemstitched in place. The cover is divided into blocks and in each alternate block an Australian bird has been worked in fancywork using stranded cottons.
