Social History Museum

The collection celebrates the culture, arts and crafts of the indigenous people of Oceania. It concentrates on Australia, the Torres Straits, New Guinea and island Melanesia, and to a lesser extent Polynesia and Micronesia. There are also some comparative holdings from such places as Africa and Southeast Asia. The collection covers many aspects of daily life, including hunting and gathering, fishing, body adornment, trade, ceremonial, tools and weaponry.18,000 ethnographic items, 6,000 archaeological items plus 6,000 photographs and 600 historic items

Traction steam engines, vintage motor vehicles, horse drawn vehicles, original Chinchilla state school, fully furnished - Two halls containing collection of Memorabilia of yesteryear: fully restored dairy and cream shed.Over 5,000 items on display, including farm machinery, horse drawn vehicles, well appointed library housing history of Chinchilla and its pioneers. First Chinchilla school (1883) on grounds containing early school memorabilia.
Fassifern District Historical Society oversees Templin Historical Village which consists of a country church, a store, house/office, school, dairy, slab hut and other museum buildings grouped around a central green to recreate a village atmosphere. The building was a court house and then police station in Mt Chalmers, re-located to Emu Park in 1986. The museum is a collection of historical and contemporary photographs and written material showing the work of the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). There are also various exhibits such as radios (including pedal radio), medical equipment and aviation instruments. A former RFDS Queenair aircraft is on display and is a highlight of the museum. The Queensland Performing Arts Centre Museum is the home for Queensland's performing arts heritage collection. The powerstation, opened in 1921, is one of the few big country power generating stations which is virtually intact and has the fist coal-fired gas producer used in the Australian electricity industry. It was sited next to the artesian bore because of the requirement for water to cool the engines. The first units were Ruston and Hornsby gas engines powering DC equipment. Greycliffe is a wooden slab-construction 6-room homestead, originally constructed in the 1870s. This building is the main focus of the historical society's activities, as it houses a collection of furniture, utensils, photographs, documents and machinery that pertain to the history of the Callide Valley. Tours of Greycliffe are available by appointment.
